Okay ... its seems we have plunged into dark places this weekend ... told you February was cursed.

Serious bit though ... you probably have heard about our attacks on Iraq this weekend, which left several people killed. Unfortunately for me, I have worked on a computer system for the RAF, which they used for planning that attack.

During peacetime the system we developed is basically an aircraft fuel calculator. In war time it tells a pilot where to drop bombs on a target.

I've always been serious about the system, as we basically hold the air crews life in our code. Fortunately they all returned safely.

Its hard to explain ... but something I do at work in a shirt and a tie, which to me was no more than a mathematical problem in applied physics has been used to cause destruction and death. Thats left me feeling wierd ... basically because I saw the work I did as applied maths, but didn't think about the consequences behind the numbers.

I dont really feel upset or very guilty per say ... I do see Saddam Hussain as an evil dictator, though I question whether our leaders intentions were altruistic (Tony going for re-election, George W. establishing his post after an election fiasco ... both trying to appear 'tough') ... and I'm only a small cog in the system. But it has hit home just what I do for a living ...

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

Love and blessings,

White Crow

When I heard about the air strikes my first thought was'Well, GWB has got to do something hasn't he to enforce the fact that he is President-because I don't think anyone is taking him seriously!'
I mean-I'm not-the man has no profile, he screwed up Texas good and proper, he sanctioned more executions whilst governor and he's President by default.
The people ' argue with over this-they say 'Well, it doesn't matter coz we aren't in America'-YES IT DOES MATTER!! GRRR!
I have so many friends in the military that every time something happens I freak- and this was just out of the blue, so much so that I'm just not convinced by it. I'm afraid I refuse to beleive that it is impossible to get rid of Saddam Hussein..Iraq is a beautiful country, with so much fantastic history and architecture..and it's people deserve better.
However, don't persecute yourself too much. We all have to work, but when it comes down to it, you were not the one who sanctioned the action..that responsibility lies with GWB, a man who already has enough blood on his hands as it is. let's just pray that there isn't too much retaliation-the last thing we need is another war.

Personally I think that all dictators should be shot before they can cause too much trouble....but in contradiction, shouldn't that mean that I too will also be shot..????? Think about it....the mind boggles...

GWB was the one who orded the attack, oothers were the ones who made the decision to use you peaceful technology for harm! The karmic consequences are theirs, NOT yours!

Blessed be!

i agree with scott, you didnt set out to kill people, your intention was not o hurt people, i think your ok.
at least i hope so cas ive done magic stuff without meaning to and caused all sorts of trouble (i dont think i have hurt living things though, well, maybe one but i dont think it was me, its just a small possibility! he deserved it anyway). you know when you get all emotional and just think oh i wish that....and it happens spectacularly, i hope so or im really wierd, carrie lives!!!

that is sometimes a very scary lesson to learn... I have had the "thinking things then they happen" bug for some time, you have to be really careful what you allow yourself to imagine/fantasise about otherwise it can cause serious harm! After all it is the rawest form of magic, using the will directly without any external focus.

im glad someone else does it too, i knew my g/f did but its nice to know we are not the only ones.
in a way i think it can sometimes be a bit like karma, if someone upsets you to the point that you build up that much energy without wanting to (and without being able to control it), they probably deserve it!
although as i said it isnt really people that bear the brunt of it, usually inanimate objects.

mutilating people???

actually i was mentally doing that to a lectuter this morning till i stopped myself

personally i tend to blow lightbulbs and break photographer's equipment (and the person i mentioned got his knob caught in his fly!!!!)

oh well, i find if my mind wanders it can be best to put up shields, ie put out a small circle, to stop things happening
