i bought 58 candles yesterday, in various sizes shapes and colours, and i would like to register this an all time record!!

i also bought an oil burner, an insense burner, 6 candle holders of various shapes and sizes and 3 bottles of essential oil. for no reason whatsoever!

Is anyone else out there a compulsive magical supplies shopper or is it just me? if there are more of us out there can we start a help group cos its getting a little out of hand!

love and luck

my favourite inscence burner is a unicorn, the smoke comes out of his nose. but the other day i set my sleeve on fire and in the panic that ensued, when i realise that i wasa now wearing a bonfire i broke his horn off. luckily i found most of ot and stuck it on though!
i get my candles from spoils, which is a reject shop and they are well cheap!
bur yesterday i found a shop that does birthday width candles that are about 12 inches long, perfact for quick spells , so i bough 3 packs of 12 in differentr colours!!

Hellooo!

I think as far as Alters go...you can pretty much use anything you've got (box with a blanket over it..or anything really...if that's all you've got, use it!!)...that's how I understand it anyway...but I'm no expert..

The pocket alter thing sounds cool!...I'd love to see one!

As for monkipoo...he's mad!!!! lol...nah...he's lovely really!

Oh....& by the way......Welcome to the comm Ookster!...you told me not to ask about the name...so I wont...I'm not entirely sure I'd want to know anyway!! hehehe!

Brightest blessings...

Dionne

Bono Estente,

Gypsy Magick is the site in question that sells the especially cute pocket altars-me want one:)

As for Ookster-well, I have 6 cats...

Spyder, Katy, Ook, Leviathan(Levi) Behemoth(Moth) and Moby.

Ookster is a kind of play on my Ook's name (also known as ooky) she's a black and white cat-named after the librarian in the Pratchett Discworld series.

I am not to blame-Dan chose the name...it kinda suits her!

Wibbly Scroggins,

Lisa:)

monkipoo dont let me get started on knives!!
i went thru a time last year when all my free time at uni was spent looking for athames on the internet.
ive just bought my second one as well!! my flatmate is getting a bit worried about my fascination with big scary knives!
both of mine have got dragons on and they are well good, i have an excuse for the second one though, i bought the first by mail order and it was a bit on the small side and i found it difficult to handle, its beautiful though so im using it as a letter opener (for magical letters of course)
as for the altar i use thae top of a chest of drawers as a permanent altar( i keep magic stuff in the top drawer. im looking for a wooden chest to use as a portable one. but they are so expensive.
think ill stick to candles!

I also have totally been looking for a wooden chest. I used to have an old oak toy chest when i was a child which would have been perfect for storing all equipment in, but it got mislaid somewhere in a house move and i have been searching for a similar ever since. I love trawling round junk shops anyway though, so no hardship.

I don't know if you've tried already but I've found if you're looking for chests/boxs a good place to look is a local market as these sort of things seam to turn up on stalls selling miscalaous stuff. I found this after spend ages looking a a reasonably priced one I found one, that was just used by one trader to move his stock around in which I managed to buy for £15, which after what I've seen from shops is realy good value.

Merry Part,
Galen

Hi all, back from a week away and I see I have a huuge amount of catching up to do...
altars.... what a minefield. Depends on how strict a traditionalist you are. There are some that say that everything you use in magickal workings should be consecrated and used only for that purpose, Altars included. To be on the safe side I usually use the earth as my altar, or a staff if I take it with me. If you're working in a bit of an emergency state you can use whatever's at hand I reckon, as long as you give it a blessing first. use your imagination! I've known kitchen witches who didn't necessarily want to advertise that fact to use everyday household objects. It's the intent that's important.

Are canadians wierd?? Hope not-Dan is going snowboarding on Wednesday to Banff in Canada...

Jammy git. Anyway, just to share that I went for a walk today and it was beautiful- I came home with a 4ft stick that I may make into a wand, I have no idea-but it really wanted me to pick it up!!!

As far as obsessions go-well I have only been a novice for a matter of weeks, but I have discovered an obsession with getting everything for an altar- i have found the same athame at about 30 sites, cheapest price £9, although I spotted it at about £14 on another...I have to get one. But I really need a cauldron....

From: Akasha Sent: 30/01/2001 13:35 14 of 16
beware of £9 athames on the internet, i fell into that trap and ended up with a decorative letter opener, too small to even hold properly, check the dimentions and the returns policy very carefully

From: Silverspirit Sent: 30/01/2001 15:53 15 of 16
The £9 one they sell on the new moon website is lovely though - I've got one and it fits my hand so perfectly, I don't want to put it down :-)

From: Akasha Sent: 30/01/2001 16:08 16 of 16
ooh i never saw that one!
i have the dragon talisman athame, that cost lots and lots and lots and lots, but its ace, it just felt right the minute i picked it up.
i do have ridiculously large hands though!!
