does anyone have any idea what loban resin is and what its for?
i got some from my friendly local rastafarian inscence supplier (i didnt ask for it or need it but hes ever so perswasive and it smelt good in the packet)
anyway i tried burning the stuff and it reeks, it made my eyes water!
i cant find it in any of my books, and ive got a lot of books, and the only use i can think of for it is hexing and other dark magic, the acrid stench lends itself to evil stuff, it smells like burning rotten corpses.
maybe my sense of smell is wierd cos ive seen it in the form of stick inscence in several places, so someone must like it.

any ideas gratefully recieved

akasha

ps anyone know where i ca get dragonsblood powder, either in the bristol area or online.

I found this on a website.....don't know if it's of any use...but here it is

LOBAN- Sanctity- is a fragrant resin from a type of pine tree. Crystals of Loban are burnt in temples all over India for the holy, sanctified atmosphere the smoke creates.

Blessings...

Thanks dionne :-)

i just went on ask jeeves and after searching lots of indian inscene sites found a place which had the trade names, botanical and british mames of stuff on it.

aparently it is the resin of the bezoin tree, in other words ot is bezoin resin rather than bezoin gum, i now understand why he sold it to me when i bought some frankinscence resin. another site ssid it was good for meditating with, maybe if i mix a tiny little bit with some frankinscence and myrhh or sandalwood it might be a bit more pleasant. on its own it was more offputting and distacting.

Akasha,
I've got some dragon's blood, I think you can get it in Arcania in Bath. Don't know bristol well enough to know any supply shops there.

You can try http://www.odyssey-online.co.uk/ for Dragon blood Chunks (£3.25), they are based in York but you can shop on-line. I'll add this into the Useful Web Sites as well, might be good to have a list of on-line suppliers.

Blessings Always
Chris
