Guys,

A lot of you, myself included, have mentioned the problems you have had when posting to the comm. The message board has been unable to accept your updates-and it gets really frustrating. This reached a pinnacle for me on Friday night, so I e-mailed MSN help and got the following response. I followed it to the letter-cleared out over 200 odd cookies in my temp internet files and guess what? I can post again!!! Woo-hoo! Here follows the e-mail I received:

Thank you for your recent e-mail to MSN Web Communities. We appreciate the
opportunity to assist you.
Please accept our apology for the inconvenience in posting in the message board.
Regarding your difficulty posting a message, we have a couple of suggestions for
you. May we suggest you also inform your members to try to do this. Thank you
for your patience on this?

The first is to delete all installed controls, which will reinstall as you use
the applications that require them. The second is to clear the cache on your
computer, with the hope of removing any obstacles to the operation of the
message board. The third is to disable your content advisor as this will often
work around the problem. Instructions for such actions are given below.

To delete all controls and temporary Internet files:

- Close Internet Explorer if you currently have it open.
- Right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop and select
Properties.
- In the General tab, click Settings, then View Objects.
- Holding the Shift key down, click on the title of every control until they are
all highlighted.
- Still holding the Shift key, right click and select Remove. Ensure that all
entries are deleted.
- Click OK to close each window associated with removing the controls and return
to the General tab.
- Next, click on Delete Files.
- Click OK to delete all temporary files.
- When complete, close all windows associated with these actions.

To disable the content advisor:

- Go to the Tools menu then click on Internet Options.
- Under the Content tab, click on the Disable button and enter the password
used.

* If you forgot the password, there is no other way you can disable it and you
have to install your browser again.

We appreciate your support of MSN and Web Communities, and hope you’ll pass
along other thoughts and suggestions as you use the service.

Like I said this is working for me therefore making me a very happy lassy indeed....:)

new to this, what the hell is a cookie

From: Ookster Sent: 25/02/2001 20:44 2 of 3
Its a kind of biscuit:))

No-it's a kind of internet thingy that some sites use-it basically allows a site to remember you-your details. (I'm a bit hazy on this-my bloke is a geek but he's asleep so I'm not waking him to ask what a cookie is lest I get a slap on the bum. However, on second thoughts...har har evil chuckles...)

Problem is your cache can get full of them, as I've learned today. Thats as much as I know-any other geeks on the list care to elaborate?
