MM,
A few of you have mentioned your Spirit Guides and so I thought we could
dedicate a discussion to them, what they are and what they mean to you.
Mine came to me in an unusual way. When I was a child and had nightmares,
sometimes an owl would fly slowly accross the room or sky in my dream
and sort of trail peace and calm behind him, and everything would be
ok. It got to the point where I could actually call for him in my dreams
(I called him Owlie, which is a bit unorigional but I was about 8) and
he would come. If I called when in a normal dream sometimes he would
fly slow enough that I could follow him and he would take me to a garden,
with a pond set in a circle of stone, where I would sit happily for
hours. I am sure this place is real somewhere and would like to one
day find it.
Anyway it was my father who suggested he might be my Spirit Guide (my
father having had one for years of his own, though my father is more
Budhist than Pagan).
I don't talk much to Owlie any more but I am aware that he is always
flying somewhere behind me and resting on my bedpost at night. It is
a comfort and I'm sure I could call on him again if I ever needed to.
I suppose this isn't really a very traditional type of guide, how about
the rest of you?

Hiya!
When I was young...from when I was about 5 till I was about 7 or 8...I
used to have really regular dreams about a young deer. It lived in the
kitchen...which was actually a forest! & I used to be able to go
there whenever I wanted..
I don't really know if this was (or still is) my spirit guide..althought
this has been suggested to me...it'd be nice to think it was.
A week or so ago I had a dream about an adult deer in a woods (not in
the kitchen!) next to a stream....but it ran away.
I also read, a few nights ago, that the Goddess sometimes appears as
a deer...
So I'm a bit baffled anyway!....Is this deer my spirit guide?...the
Goddess showing herself?...or just a dream??...hmmm
Brightest blessings...

My major spirit guide is my anima/animus, that is a female representation
of the other side of my soul. I used a meditation from Laurie Cabots
Power of the Witch to meet her. She looks a lot like Jo Brand, which
was quite scarey at first. She never really speaks, but is very warm
and friendly and knowing. Thanks to my meditation, I visualise her living
under my spirit tree.
I've just started using my old dog Frodo as a new guide. It was really
nice to see him again, and nice to introduce him to my anima. He is
quite energetic but somewhat daft!
I used to walk at night a lot, and have come accross the path of a Fox
about half a dozen times. I've always slowed my pace, and they have
remained unafraid enough that we can get a good look at each other.
It is always a magical, spiritual experience.
I am an ex-Christian whos faith kind of ebbed away. I was quite interested
then to meet Jesus in a recent meditation, and realised that yes, he
is my oldest and closest spirit guide (and that of many true Christians
no doubt). I realised that although there are some really nasty Christians
out there, I cannot blame or dislike him. Also that I do respect what
he truely stands for.
However, is the world ready for a Wiccan-Christian? It would be a bit
like wearing a target for the less understanding on both sides!
Better duck for cover...

I read somewhere (Dionne hits the books again!!)...that the pagan faith
gives people the freedom to have orthodox beliefs aswell as pagan beliefs...so
we can get Christian Wiccan...Catholic Wiccan...Buddhist Wiccan...the
list goes on...& why not!
I reckon everyone should do, & believe in whatever feels right...it's
what life's all about isn't it?!
Bright blessings...

theres nothing wrong with jesus, im sure he was a lovely chap! its just
the attitude of some of his followers that can be a bit of a problem,
look at his life, cut out the bits that are actually hindu myths about
krishna (it is thought that christ was a missionary of krishna, thats
actually where the word christ comes from) what you are left with is
a man who was a great teacher and healer, there aint nothing wrong with
that is there, surely thats what we all aspire to be?
im not sure if i have a spirit guide, though i do have a couple of animals
and a red indian (she is from a meditation, and just happens to have
stayed there in my meditation land, thats the place i go to meet the
annimals, a bit like dionnes forest, but she never seems to do anything
other than the same meditation which i use every now and again. )
i have a unicorn who doesnt do a lot but hes kinda nice to have around,
hes calming and im sure hes very wise, it might just take a bit more
work to getr anything out of him, i do make him carry psycic messages
though, hes good at that. he is basically my own version of epona, the
horse spirit and he lives in a clearing in my astral forest.
ihave a guardian who is a dragon called kazul, she lives in a cave in
the cliffs above te sea, i work with her energy for protecton, i have
a painting of a dragon a lot like her above my bed. i use dragons as
elementals when i feel i need watchtowers on my circle, and i used her
energy to protect my altar. if i am walking out at night and im a bit
worried she often appears (well i feel her) walking behind me. like
star's owl she somethimes saves me in my dreams, like once i had a really
vivid dream that someone was in my room about to stab me with my athame
(probaby triggerd by the way my flatmates eyes lit up when he saw it)
and she reared up from behind my bed and breathed lots of fire on them!
lovely!!
lots of love and fluffy stuff

Star...your spirit guide reminds me of mine. Mine is a falcon though,
called Kohlan. He didn't come to me till i started uni though, quite
late in life judging by the other posts here. I can call on him to be
with me whenever i feel nervous or worried, meditation or no.
I also have two dogs - not surprising as they are my favourite animal!
They carry messages for me and protect me in the spirit world.

When i was wee i used to have dreams, day dreams.. etc when ever i felt
scared or nervous... Flame the Dragon used to come and protect me. He
made me feel at ease although ive not seen him for a while Wonder where
hes gotten to? Although, all along ive had a Unicorn protecting me but
I never seem to see Flame and Beauty at the same time.
I consider these my spirit guides because they help me out mentally
Beauty leaves a trail of harmony, peace and tranquility and i like that
.. Only ONCE in the time Ive known beauty ive only been horse back ONCE!
I still see Beauty on a frequent basis... especially when I mediate...
She has this beautiful aura within her that makes me feel so attracted
to her without even thinking. Theres also a Chesnut horse called Zephyr
that takes me places and meets me at the opening of the woods every
single time.
My messenger in the spirit world is Sunny .... a African Grey parrot...
He brings little clues ... either warnings or things to come ahead!
I wouldnt get by in life without Beauty and Sunny...
(but.. my guides in reality are.. 3 dumb dogs - Ben , Storm and Tia!
I love them to bits but...)

I used to go to spiritulist church and one of the mediums once told
me that all people have a different type of guid depending on there
personality and who the are etc. I was told mine was some sort of red
indian, though I personally have never seen him.
