Everyone loves a bit of a mystery ...

In my home town of Stoke on Trent (in England), my Aunt (now deceased) used to take us to a 17th - 18th Century graveyard as children.

There inside, there was a very strange grave. Whilst all the other graves pointed E-W, this pointed N-S.

My Aunt would tell me that it belonged to an old witch called Molly Lee. Legend has it she was buried E-W, but when they returned to her home after burying her, the party returned to her home they found her sitting in her kitchen.

They buried her body again, and again she returned to her kitchen. Only when they buried her NS did she find peace...

I've always thought of her as a far off family friend by the way my aunt and her friends talked about her, and that they buried her that way to find her some peace.

But I do wonder now if it was meant as a punishment to be buried that way around, and maybe my aunt was giving me the Disney treatment!

Do you have any thoughts about this ... it is a bit of a mystery to me!

Blessed Be,

White Crow
